The Como-Pickton consolidated school district is the second-largest in the county, combining the two communities of Como and Pickton and some from the Pine Forest, Greenpond, Sandfield, Black Oak and Sandy Creek communities for a total of about 750 students. It is classified as 2A, according to UIL standards.

The school board consists of seven elected members who meet at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month. Sandra Billodeau is the school district's superintendent, with Lydia Walden serving as assistant superintendent. All grades are housed in one campus, which is located about 15 miles southeast of Sulphur Springs on State Highway 11 east between Como and Pickton. The main number is 903-488-3671.

Also on campus is a self-contained cafeteria, football field, baseball field, tennis courts, and gymnasium and bus yard. Como-Pickton completed construction of an expanded high school wing and repairs to the elementary gym floor during the 200-2001 school year, and in August 2006 opened a new elementary wing. The L-shaped structure includes a new library complete with an office, new tables and shelving, and more space; four new classrooms to house Head Start and prekindergarten students; and a new cafeteria for elementary use only. Other recent projects at the school included a new parking area, a new concession stand, new air conditioning systems in the gyms and installation of bleachers in the elementary gym and at the football stadium.

The district has FFA, band, cheerleading and UIL academic events. They also offer the following sports: football, volleyball, cross country, basketball, baseball, softball, golf, soccer, power lifting and track. The district was ranked academically acceptable, as were both campuses, by the Texas Education Agency.
