The sixth, seventh and eighth grades are housed at the Middle School, located on Bell Street.  A new wing was completed at the school in 1986, giving the facility a capacity of 1360 students.

Middle School students recently benefited from the renovation of the mini-gym on the campus.  The area in the building designated as gym space was converted into four classrooms.

The middle school offers band, computer classes, boys and girls sports and development learning courses.  Tennis courts, a gymnasium, an athletic track and baseball diamond are all situated on the grounds which served as the high school campus until 1978.

Like the high school, SSMS has a rich history of academic success.  In 2008, the school captured its 16th straight district UIL championship.

Rusty Harden is senior principal. He oversees daily operations at the school with the Assistant Principals Shawn Sinclair and Karen Willis.
